Some of the best laid plans sometimes get changed. With that being said, stop by Friday September 12, 4-7 and enjoy our wine tasting. We have chosen some fine wines including a Petit Sirah, Red Dry wine from Greece, a Chardonnay and a North Carolina Semi-Sweet Muscadine. (We will be celebrating NC Wine Month all month by tasting a NC wine each week.)
We wish Tom a speedy recovery. Here’s what we are tasting this week:
Dona Paula Estate Chardonnay
Manual harvest is carried out in the first week of March. The grapes are pressed and then fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. 50% of the must ends the fermentation process in new French oak barrels. Ageing takes place in new French oak barrels for a period of 6 to 8 months. Wine Makers notes: Golden yellow color. Citric and mineral aromas with notes of spices and tropical fruits. In the mouth, it is fresh, lively, with good acidity and balance.
Fiddletown Cellars Amador County Fox Creek Petite Sirah
Inky dark and with a dash of Barbera, aromas of a blackberry/blueberry cobbler dominate. Perfectly integrated tannins pace from the first sip all the way to the finish. Opulent and full bodied, this succulent beauty is a medley of dark fruit ranging from black curants to plout preserves. Long on flavor and densely structured, it should age well for years. Drink now through 2019.
Agiorgitiko is a beautifully balanced red wine full of body and berry fruit flavors and tannins giving it a long finish. Nemea, the appellation, is required to be 100% Agiorgitiko grape varietal with minimal aging of 12 months in oak. Although Agiorgitiko is the only appellation of Nemea, other indigenous varieties are planted.
Agiorgitiko is a well-balanced, full-bodies wine with rich aromas and high-tones fruity flavors of cherry and strawberry. Its velvety taste and light tannins make this wine a superb accompaniment to red meats, pork, and stewed vegetables. Grape Variety Agiorgitiko (St. George)
Old Stone Winery White Muscadine Semi-Sweet
Flavorful and fun, this white Miscadine has hints of crisp apples and a light touch of oak.
