Line 39 Chardonnay

Our Chardonnay is a rich, medium bodied wine with hints of oak and lush tropical fruit flavors on the palate.  Crisp and refreshing, this wine can be enjoyed with a variety of fish and chicken dishes or all by itself on a warm summer afternoon.  Line 39 is a selection of varietals from the Central Coast and North Coast Appellations of California. The 39th parallel runs through the heart of California wine country and is home to Line 39. Here we craft wines expressive of their dynamic regions.

Markovic Estates Reserve Merlot

Red berries, (Strawberry, Raspberry) and Cherries. Fine Light Semi dry wild red berries with soft tannins.  Best served with all kinds of meat, poultry, pasta pizza and cheese,

Merlot is a red wine variety with strong historic ties to Bordeaux and the southwest of France. The variety is now widely planted in wine regions across the world and, in terms of the volumes of wine produced internationally, it is rivaled only by its Bordeaux companion, Cabernet Sauvignon.  Smooth, rounded and “easy-drinking” are common descriptions of Merlot wines. The main reason for this is that Merlot grapes are relatively large in relation to their pips and the thickness of the skins, in which tannins are found. For this reason, the variety is used to soften wines made from more tannic varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec. It is also used in cooler vintages to balance the austerity of under ripe grapes and to make the wines more approachable at an earlier age.  Merlot might be seen as the reliable grape variety, or as an insurance policy. Along with its capacity to soften wine, it is early maturing – meaning that it ripens even in slightly cooler climates. Its key drawback is that the early-developing flowers are more susceptible to frost damage in spring.

Bianchi Particular Merlot   (2004)

In Argentina the term Particular is used in reference to very personal and exclusive products.  The Valentin Bianchi family has produced this extraordinary wine since 1928, but only in small quantities for their friends and family.  The grapes for this wine were had selected from individual lots within single vineyards.  Each barrel was tasted and only the finest barrels were chosen.  A small number of bottles have been released for the international markets.
